Experience Research Lab (ERL) is an artist-led design studio creating works and experiences that tell stories in unexpected and distinctive ways. The Lab is collaborative, and our team approach never seems to develop the expected or even the same idea twice.

The Lab’s purpose is simple — Combine focused research with playful experimentation to continually question how art and design can create unforgettable experiences.

ERL Background

Experience Research Lab (ERL) is a Seattle based collaborative art and design studio led by Taylor Reed and Ian Campbell. Since its founding, ERL has carved a unique approach at the intersection of architecture, graphic design, and visual art. Together, Ian and Taylor leverage their combined expertise to create immersive, multisensory experiences that challenge traditional boundaries and invite audiences into worlds of light, sound, and visual art.

    With over 15 years of industry experience, Taylor Reed’s graphic design and visual storytelling expertise shape ERL’s distinctive aesthetic. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for narrative, Taylor crafts visuals that amplify the emotional and conceptual depth of each project.

    Ian Campbell brings a robust architecture and public art background to the Lab, infusing its projects with a deep understanding of space, structure, and materiality. His approach transforms conceptual ideas into spatial realities, creating environments as functional as they are evocative.
